Berlin business owner dedicated to holistic healing

BERLIN — Mind, Body & Soul is a one-stop therapy center. The business, which recently opened at 1176 Farmington Ave., offers a range of services—counseling, nutrition, therapy, yoga, Reiki energy healing—and welcomes people of all ages, symptoms and diagnoses.

“My idea is to bring to life all the treatment plans and work I’ve done for clients over the last 20 years,” says Melissa Kelly, owner of Mind, Body & Soul. “In order to achieve optimal mental health, you need to address your Issues with thoughts, trauma, childhood, body, health and spirituality, whatever that means to you. My dream is to have a place where we can do it all in one place.”

Kelly is a licensed marriage and family therapist and has been practicing since 2004. Before moving into its 2,000-plus-square-foot Berlin location this fall, Mind, Body & Soul was housed in a smaller space on the Silas Deane highway.

A mother of two, Kelly has lived in Berlin for 17 years. She founded Mind, Body & Soul in 2007 and has been working with the business full-time since 2011.

Kelly is a graduate of Eastern Connecticut State University with a degree in Psychology and a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Central Connecticut State University.

From there, she worked at the Cromwell Children’s Home.

“I’ve wanted to do this since I was 19. I was in college and I was going through something and I was on the treadmill one day and I had this moment. I was like, ‘I need to have a strong mind, a strong body and soul to be healthy,'” Kelly said. “I really believe in this philosophy. We all come from a place where we don’t have prejudice and we really care about other people. We really want to help the community. We want to be a place of healing. own burden.”

Stacy King joins Kelly at Mind, Body & Soul, which celebrated its ribbon-cutting on October 12. 13.

“I call myself a real-life coach and strategist,” Kim said. “I want to help young girls, mostly girls, who might be traumatized or have low self-esteem, or not have the confidence to go out and do things or join sports teams. So I love those younger kids. But we’re paid professional best friends; It’s life coaching. We’ll take you wherever you need to be.”

The Mind, Body & Soul staff includes marriage and family therapists Priyal Bomova and Nicole Tierney; counselor and yoga instructor Melissa Urrunaga; nutritionist and yoga instructor Ellissa Woods; life coach and cancer advocate Caroline Johnson.
