Charged with murder in Concord shooting

A man implicated in the shooting of the Concord couple has now been charged with murder. A man named as a person of interest in the shooting of a Concord couple has now been charged with murder.

Clegg is considered a fugitive on murder charges, the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office said in a news release Wednesday afternoon. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday.

Clegg was a hero of St. Petersburg. Albans, Vermont, escaped from Utah on an unrelated fugitive charge. His lawyers filed an appeal Wednesday for a bail hearing on the matter, which the Vermont Supreme Court rejected before a high court judge ruled that a hearing was ordered in the civil case.

Clegg has been in custody for seven days following his arrest in South Burlington, Vermont. Investigators said he had been on the run for 15 months, even traveling abroad. They said he had booked a one-way ticket to Germany and left two days after his arrest.

The bodies of Steven and Wendy Reed were found shot dead on a Concord walking trail in April.
