FAA Seeks Feedback on Expansion of Construction Project Small Business Industrial Base

The FAA is seeking industry comments on plans to use the FAA Mentor-Protégé program to expand small businesses that can support large construction projects funded by bipartisan infrastructure laws.

A notice posted Monday on SAM.gov states that the FAA is seeking to create opportunities for socially and economically disadvantaged personally-owned small businesses to compete for prime positions in federal construction contracts.

According to the FAA, the bipartisan infrastructure law invests $5 billion over five years to modernize the agency’s air traffic control system infrastructure by reducing maintenance backlogs and upgrading key buildings and equipment.

Through the Mentor-Protégé program, the FAA seeks to encourage large, established companies to partner with small businesses and to assist small businesses in contracting with the agency.

Responses to sources seeking notification are due Feb. 2. 28.
