From the ashes: Prominent Upper Bucks business rebuilds, reopens after fire destroys store | Southeastern Pennsylvania

A well-known business in upper Bucks County rose from the ashes.

In 2021, Vanderlely’s Truck Sales and Service in Oatesville was destroyed by a fire, but the staunch family business was rebuilt over the next year and a half.

Family and friends gathered at the store Saturday to watch the ribbon cutting and reopening.

“All our friends and family were watching it burn to the ground, and there was nothing you could do,” Tom Vanderlie III recalled.

That’s August 2021.

The Vanderlely family watched 55 years of work go up in flames in just a few hours.

“It was a tough night, it was unbelievable. All our friends and family were watching it burn and there was nothing you could do,” he said.

But Saturday, is a new beginning.

Brick by brick, day by day.

Behind them stood a line of men, the Vanderlely family rebuilding their legacy.

“It’s unbelievable. It’s unbelievable. We’ve got a lot of loyal customers. We’ve jumped through a lot of hoops and here we are,” said Tom Vanderlely Sr., owner of Vanderlely’s Truck Sales & Service.

Back up and running with a lot of love.

“Thank you everyone for coming and really supporting us. Never walk away.”
