Hartford restaurant closes after nearly two years in business – NBC Connecticut

A popular restaurant in Hartford is closing after operating nearly two dozen.

The Half Door on Sisson Avenue said they will close on January 1. twenty three.

The restaurant, an Irish gastro pub, was unable to reach an agreement with the landlord on how to proceed in its current location.

The restaurant group, Locals 8 Hospitality Group, said they are determined to reopen at new locations later this year.

“Generations of Connecticut residents have come to The Half Door in Hartford to enjoy their famous cobblestones, sip Irish beer, and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day,” the restaurant said in a statement.

Restaurant Group founder and CEO Allie J. Gamble said it was tragic that the restaurant had to relocate.

“We would like to thank our many patrons for their loyalty over the past 20-plus years, as well as the generations of employees who have made Half Doors such a beloved community resource,” Gamble said.
