Historic Firehouse One reopens as new business in Roanoke

Roanoke, Va. (WFXR) — The old Firehouse One in downtown Roanoke has reopened as a new business in the star city. The grand opening took place on Friday at 10am with a celebratory ribbon cutting.

Old School Partners and Txtur are turning the 115-year-old firehouse into a furniture store, bistro and boutique hotel.

Txtur’s flagship retail gallery officially opened on Friday, with a bistro and hotel scheduled to open in November. City officials and project managers spoke at the event to mark the achievement.

“Fortunately, this building is here to allow us to repurpose it after 15 years of sitting here, making it something the entire community can enjoy,” said Dale Wilkinson, partner and Wilkinson president at Old School Partners. group.

At the end of the ceremony, the bells that once occupied the clock tower rang, symbolizing the reopening of the station. There’s also an all-day open house until 8pm with musical entertainment, local food trucks and more.

Yesterday Church Street from Firehouse One to Jefferson Street was closed for the duration of the event.
