Holt, MI (WILX) – the Holt Business Alliance honors Holt Public Schools Principal Dr. David Hornak and District Middle School Program Director Lucas Schrauben for their efforts to help students and give back to the community.
Hornaker received the organization’s Ronald Van Hemen Legacy Award at the January meeting. Pat Brown, the league’s vice president, noted Hornaker’s steadfast leadership during difficult times over the past few years, including the COVID-19 pandemic.
The award is named for Ronald Van Ermen, Holt Public Schools assistant principal in the 1990s. He helped restructure the Business Alliance to better bridge the gap between business, government and education, a vision that remains the Alliance’s mission.
“Dr. Hornak has selflessly placed himself among many community organizations to stay connected and provide insight as needed,” Brown said. “He was a great inspiration, and his wise and compassionate leadership continues Ron Van Ermen’s legacy today.”
Schrauben named Holt Business Alliance Educator of the Year. The group noted that Schrauben, a Holt Public School graduate, has dedicated his career to helping students discover their values, passions and purpose.
“Lucas Schrauben continues to innovate, educate and inspire Holt Public students to become the next great leaders in our changing economy, whether in robotics, aviation, architecture or countless other areas of student opportunity,” Brown said. “We are proud to recognize his continued dedication to our students and the Holt community.”
