Innovation educator Frank Braun named head of UW-Oshkosh School of Business

After a nationwide search, seasoned academic leader Frank Braun will start work in January. On the 17th, he served as the new dean of the Oshkosh School of Business at the University of Wisconsin.

Braun is currently a professor at the University of Arkansas Little Rock School of Business, and concurrently dean of the School of Business and the School of Health and Human Services.

“Dr. Braun has excelled in teaching, scholarship and program development, with a broad and diverse range of experience in college, university and private sector service,” said UWO Provost John Koker. “He is an innovative educator with over a decade of experience developing and deploying experiential and emerging digital learning technologies, pedagogies and strategies.”

At UWO, Braun succeeds Barbara Rau, who has been dean since June 2017, and is stepping down to return to the COB Academy.

He has served as dean and professor of business and health informatics at the Baldwin Wallace University School of Business. Before that, he was a faculty member at Northern Kentucky University for 18 years and held various administrative positions. His research interests include entrepreneurship and innovation, organizational reliability and resilience, and project leadership attributes and outcomes.

“I believe Frank’s vision for higher education, experience as a teacher and administrator in undergraduate and graduate business programs, his commitment to success and experience working with students, faculty and staff will make him an effective leader in the business school, ‘ said Kirk.

Braun holds a Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University, an MBA from Xavier University, and a BS in Engineering and Computing from Miami University, Ohio. Braun is active in the field of cybersecurity and holds a Certified Information Security Manager credential.

Braun brings administrative and entrepreneurial industry experience to the college. As CIO for over a decade, he has developed and delivered contemporary strategy and innovation systems. From 1998 to 2014, Braun initiated and served as Dr. Biz Analytics Ltd., providing information technology and management consulting services.
