Kazakhstan to set up State Science and Technology Council

ASTANA – The State Science and Technology Council will be established in Kazakhstan, Kazakh President Kasim-Jomart Tokayev said during a meeting with the public in Almaty on November 11. On the 16th, Akorda news service was reported.

“We often discuss the integration of science and production; however, we lack such interaction. Unfortunately, we must admit this. Domestic production requires scientific advances and breakthroughs. The efforts of our scientists should contribute to the production of high-quality products , while increasing production efficiency. Only in this way can economic development be realized. In this regard, I made another important decision – the establishment of the State Science and Technology Council headed by the President,” Tokayev said.

The committee will include recognized scientists from the country and should identify national policy priorities in science and technology.

“The Office of the President and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education should organize the relevant work. This work will be my special responsibility,” the president said.
