Three people were killed and at least four were injured in a shooting in Los Angeles, the city’s fire department said Saturday, the fourth mass shooting in California in a week.

The Los Angeles Fire Department received a call for help at 2:35 a.m. on a residential street northwest of downtown, a spokesman said.

Rescuers found three dead and two injured, who were taken to hospital, the fire department said. The other two went to the hospital on their own, the spokesman said.

CNN affiliate KCAL said the shooting happened in the Beverly Hills neighborhood outside of Beverly Hills. Three victims were shot inside a car, while four others stood outside a house.

Police said the first call was about an “assault with a deadly weapon,” the station reported.

Four people who were hospitalized were reported to be in critical condition, the station said.

It was the third mass shooting in California since Jan. 21, when a gunman entered a dance studio in Monterey Park in the Los Angeles metro area and killed 11 people.

Seven people were killed on a farm in Half Moon Bay, Northern California, on Monday.

Hours later, five people were shot in Oakland. An 18-year-old man was killed.
