Organizing a Marketing Workshop for Small Business Owners in Jefferson City

Jefferson City, Missouri (KMIZ)

Several organizations in the Jefferson City area will hold free marketing workshops Friday morning.

The “How to Own a Local Market” marketing seminar will be held at First Mid Bank & Trust from 9am to 1pm. Anyone interested in attending the workshop can register by 8am. However, organizers say they are also welcome to attend.

According to the organizers, the workshop will teach small business owners online marketing strategies aimed at growing their business. Free events are expected to cover customer relations, entrepreneurship, marketing and sales topics.

Attendees will also learn about search engine optimization (SEO), social media and digital tools like Google.

Karen Thompson, a woman with a freelance tax franchise in Jefferson City who attended Friday workshops, said the marketing workshops helped her business take to the next level.

“I’m a digital guy, I’m not a marketer. So I know when you’re doing business for yourself, you’re self-employed, and you also need to know how to market your product,” said Thompson

According to the U.S. Census Bureau Small Business Pulse Survey, the COVID-19 pandemic has negatively impacted 50 percent of small businesses, with 80 percent reporting reduced revenue.

Members of the Jefferson City Minority Business Council said they would also be in attendance. The Jefferson City Minority Business Council is affiliated with the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce. Council members help minority businesses develop strategic plans, connect available resources and advocate for growth.
