Porter made the announcement even though neither California’s incumbent Senators, Democrats Dianne Feinstein and Alex Padilla, have said they plan to vacate their seats. Padilla, 49, won his first full term in November’s election. Feinstein, 89, filed preliminary papers last year to run for re-election in 2024.
