School Librarians on Technology, Book Review, and the Power of Libraries | Teachers Lounge Podcast

We’re back! It’s 2023! We also have a brand new episode starring Deborah Weir – librarian and IMC coordinator at Zion-Benton Township High School. She is also the president of the Association of Illinois School Library Educators (AISLE).

Surprisingly, Deborah is the first school librarian we meet on the show. We talked to her about school library responsibilities, censorship; media literacy, technology – then reading, and we ended with some book recommendations.

If you’ve never heard of Teachers’ Lounge before, our show is based on one idea – we all have teachers in our lives who shape us. We want to hear about teachers who have inspired you or deserved your community’s attention. Every educator we feature on this podcast, be it a teacher, coach, counselor, or professor, was nominated by our listeners.

So, tell us about that person you’re thinking of. Send us an email and nominate an educator at teacherslounge@niu.edu who might appear on the podcast! Subscribe to our Teachers’ Lounge newsletter here so you can stay up to date on the show and share stories you think we should cover!

Plus, the radio plays the Teachers’ Lounge! Watch this hour-long radio show monthly on 89-5 FM and streaming on WNIJ.org. We have multiple guests, stories and exclusive clips. Our next episode airs on Friday 27th January at 11am, tune in for future episodes at the same time on the last Friday of the month.
