Loyal customers said they were happy to see the fine dining restaurant open again.
Senior, Colorado. — More than a year after the Marshall Fire, a well-known restaurant that burned down is finally reopening. Loyal customers have been waiting for Wayne’s Smoke Shack in Superior to finally start serving BBQ again.
Official opening at 11am on Friday.However, the first customer was already in line at 6am
Cliff Martin, 88, is a regular at the restaurant, returning every week.
“I’m a regular here, I love the people, and the best meat I know,” Martin said.
Some customers waited for more than an hour before they finally made it to the counter.
“It says a lot about Wayne. It says a lot about the community. They love his stuff and can’t wait to get it. I’m one of them,” Martin said.
Nick Kaplan is another regular at Wayne’s every week.
“It’s not just about the food. Maybe it’s silly to say that, but it’s a community thing. It sounds cliché, but it’s really become a fixture in our little Superior community and it’s great to have them back,” Kaplan Say.
“Like everyone, there were ups and downs and challenges. I would say it’s just a process. Sharing our story with our community and feeling loved and supported has really helped us. I feel like today was the final test. Like we did, we did, we finally opened,” said Samantha Shelnutt, who owns the restaurant with her husband.
