Toledo’s Manhattan Pub ‘n Cheer celebrates 20th anniversary

The Adams Street staple has become part of Toledo’s revitalized district. Owner Zach Leahy said he looked forward to another 20 years in business.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Manhattan’s Pub ‘n Cheer on Adams Street in Toledo celebrated its 20th anniversary Thursday

“It has been an absolute asset to be able to do business at Adams in Toledo, and the people who have supported us over the past 20 years,” said owner Zack Leahy.

The pub has become one of the mainstays of the Adams Street corridor, a much quieter part of the town that used to be.

“It’s been amazing watching him grow into what he is now,” Leahy said.

Over the past 20 years, more and more people and businesses have come to the area, including Wesley’s Bar and Grill.

Owner Micah Risher supports his business neighbors in Manhattan.

“We want people to have a safe time, we want them to support local people and feel welcome, and everyone does that in a different way,” Rischer said. “Coming here is just part of it.”

What sets Adams Street apart, Risher said, is the connections people make in the area.

“Passionate about the rights of others, community, and what connects us, and less worried about what holds us back,” Rischer said.

Business owners want to continue spending quality time with great people for the next 20 years.

“What really gives it character is the people that frequent all of the downtown areas, and I think seeing all of them coming together to form a unified vision is what we’re all about,” Leahy said.
