Hundreds of thousands of people have been laid off in just over a year as big tech companies lay off workers.
On Friday, 12,000 Google employees opened an email telling them their jobs were over.
The layoffs follow other companies such as Meta (owner of Facebook and Whatsapp) as well as Twitter and Microsoft.
In just over a year, the tech industry has shed more than 200,000 jobs.
Some blamed overhiring during the height of the pandemic. Others, wrong future strategy – and then a worsening economic environment.
