WILLISTON, North Dakota (KUMV) – The Williston Basin School District’s new operations manager has started focusing on the district’s financial health.
Kent Anderson, who was hired for the position last month, had his first day on January 10th. 3. He has served as Operations Manager for the Dickinson Public School District and Chief Financial Officer for Dickinson State University. He said his goal is to work with school boards to provide the public with accurate and transparent financial information.
“Make sure the board and the public have information they can trust and rely on. That’s my job. That’s what I’m going to try to do,” Anderson said.
Anderson said he will be working remotely but will be present in person at some board meetings where he has to present information.
“I visited [Superintendent] Richard Fedley. I explained my situation to him. I have a senior at Dickinson High School. We weren’t thinking about uprooting our family,” Anderson said.
Anderson said his first priority will be to work with the state on an audit of the region’s finances. A report to the board is expected later this month.
