New York – The New York Yankees and Cleveland Guards were supposed to complete their Game 5 ALDS showdown at Yankee Stadium on Monday night. Unfortunately, bad weather caused the game to be postponed first and then to Tuesday more than two hours later. The first pitch is now scheduled for 4:07pm ET.

Major League Baseball makes all weather-related decisions during the playoffs, and the league meets every hour or so starting around 6 p.m. ET. Monday’s first game was scheduled for 7:07 p.m. ET.

“I think everyone is on the same page when we talk,” Guardians manager Terry Francona said of MLB’s afternoon calls with both teams. “As long as we can play the game, not make it look like it’s going to be interrupted, and have a little bit of a result, (we) are willing to play.”

It’s worth remembering that Game 2 of the ALDS was delayed by rain, forcing the Yankees and Guardians to play Game 2-5 for four straight days. Still, the team should stay clear on Tuesday, and things will be sunny in the mid-50s.

Tuesday was supposed to be the day off for any team that made it to the ALCS. The winner must now travel to Houston after the afternoon game for Game 1 of the ALCS against the Astros on Wednesday.

The Yankees were supposed to start the right Jameson Taillon (14-5, 3.91 ERA) in Game 5, however, they will use the extra day to start Nestor Cortes (12-4, 2.44 ERA). Meanwhile, the Guardians will fight back with the right Aaron Civale (5-6, 4.92 ERA). It’s unclear if the Guards will follow suit and activate Shane Bieber, thus recreating the second game.
